About the Opportunity
Jordan Hill is expanding its online tutoring platform and is seeking knowledgeable, engaging and committed tutors who can work with children and young people aged 5 to 16.
Our online programme provides personalised one to one and small group tuition for learners following different school curricula and living in different countries. Lessons may support curriculum reinforcement, academic enrichment, examination preparation or the development of a particular skill.
We welcome applications from qualified teachers and experienced tutors across a wide range of subjects.

Applicants should clearly identify the age groups, subjects, curricula and examination levels they are qualified and confident to teach.
Key Responsibilities
• Plan and deliver engaging, interactive and age appropriate lessons through Google Meet and other approved platforms
• Teach effective one to one and small group classes
• Follow the Jordan Hill curriculum or the learner’s school curriculum, adapting lessons to the learner’s needs, level and goals
• Prepare suitable lesson materials, activities and assessments
• Provide clear, constructive and encouraging feedback
• Promote active participation, curiosity and learner confidence
• Assess and track each learner’s progress
• Submit brief and accurate reports following each session
• Communicate professionally with programme coordinators
• Attend occasional team meetings, training sessions and progress reviews
• Maintain punctuality, reliability and professional standards
• Follow Jordan Hill’s safeguarding, confidentiality and online teaching procedures
Essential Qualifications and Experience
Applicants should have:
• A university degree or recognised professional qualification in Education, the subject they intend to teach or a closely related field
• Previous experience teaching, tutoring or working with children and young people
• Strong subject knowledge in the relevant age range and curriculum
• Excellent spoken and written English
• Strong communication, organisation and lesson planning skills
• The ability to manage learners effectively in an online environment
• Confidence using Google Meet, Google Classroom, Google Docs, presentation software and interactive teaching tools
• The ability to provide supportive, accurate and timely feedback
• A genuine commitment to learner development, inclusion and educational equity
Teaching Certifications
Applicants should hold at least one relevant teaching or professional qualification where applicable. Suitable qualifications may include:
• Bachelor of Education
• Postgraduate Certificate in Education
• Qualified Teacher Status
• Nigeria Certificate in Education
• Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria certification
• A recognised teaching licence or registration from another country
• Montessori, Early Years or phonics certification
• Teaching English as a Foreign Language
• Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages
• Cambridge, International Baccalaureate or other curriculum specific training
• A recognised professional qualification in the subject being taught
Applicants who have a strong subject degree and substantial tutoring experience may also be considered.
Successful applicants must be willing to complete identity, qualification, reference and safeguarding checks. A current DBS certificate or the relevant background check for the applicant’s country is desirable and may be required before a tutor is assigned to a learner.
Desirable Experience
It would be helpful to have experience in one or more of the following:
• Teaching learners between the ages of 5 and 16
• Delivering online lessons
• Supporting learners from different cultural and educational backgrounds
• Teaching UK, Nigerian, Canadian, American, Cambridge or other international curricula
• Preparing students for entrance examinations, SATs, 11 Plus, Common Entrance, GCSEs or equivalent assessments
• Teaching phonics, reading intervention or creative writing
• Supporting learners with additional educational needs
• Using interactive whiteboards, educational games and online assessment tools
• Designing enrichment activities, projects or creative workshops
Technical and Working Requirements
Applicants must have:
• A functional laptop or desktop computer with a working camera and microphone
• A dependable power supply with a suitable backup arrangement
• Strong and reliable internet connectivity
• A quiet, professional and distraction free teaching environment
• Access to Google Workspace and the ability to use online teaching platforms confidently
• Availability during after school hours and weekends
• Flexibility to teach learners in different time zones, including the United Kingdom, Nigeria, Canada and the United States
Phones and tablets cannot be used as the primary device for teaching.
Remuneration
A competitive hourly rate will be offered based on the tutor’s qualifications, subject expertise, teaching experience and assigned responsibilities.
Tutors will work on a flexible, part time basis according to student enrolment, subject demand and agreed availability.
Demo Lesson Submission
Applicants should record a 5 to 10 minute video demonstrating how they would teach a concept from one of their chosen subjects to a learner within the 5 to 16 age range.
The demonstration should show:
• Clear explanation of the chosen concept
• Age appropriate language and teaching methods
• Learner engagement strategies
• Confident subject knowledge
• Effective use of visual or digital teaching resources
