At Jordan Hill Creative Writing & Reading Workshop (CWRW), we are dedicated to igniting children’s passion for reading and enhancing their creative writing skills. Position: Editor
Location: Remote (Work from Home)
Type: Part-time (20 hours a week)
Salary Range: Between N75,000 and N100,000 monthly.
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Editor to join our team remotely. This role is primarily focused on editing books, magazines, articles, and blog posts published by Jordan Hill CWRW, as well as event speeches for the management team ensuring they meet the highest standards of quality and creativity. The ideal candidate will also support other content creation efforts, including educational materials, marketing content, and internal communications. Additionally, the Editor will provide one-on-one online support sessions
with authors, guiding them through the publication process.
Lead the editing process for books published by Jordan Hill, ensuring clarity, consistency, and alignment with our educational and creative standards.
Collaborate closely with authors during one-on-one online sessions, providing feedback and guidance to refine their manuscripts for publication.
Manage the editing timeline, ensuring that all books are completed and ready for publication according to schedule.
Review and edit educational materials, including lesson plans, reading guides, and creative writing prompts, ensuring accuracy and age-appropriateness.
Edit marketing materials such as brochures, newsletters, and website content, maintaining a consistent tone and style.
Ensure all content, particularly our published books, aligns with Jordan Hill’s brand guidelines and educational objectives.
Proofread all external communications, including press releases for grammatical accuracy and consistency.
Collaborate with the Programme Manager and curriculum developers to create new website content that meets our educational standards.
Provide input on the development of new workshops, events, and other educational initiatives.
Work closely with the Marketing and Communications Administrator to synchronise content creation and distribution efforts.
Support the recruitment and training of part-time writers and volunteers who contribute to content creation.
Oversee the production schedule for all printed and digital materials, with a strong emphasis on our book publications.
Liaise with the Marketing and Communications Administrator to ensure high-quality production of all materials.
Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s degree in English, Journalism, Communications, or a related field.
Experience:
Proven experience as an Editor, with a strong focus on book editing, preferably within an educational or creative writing environment.
Experience with content management systems and familiarity with digital publishing.
Skills:
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
Strong attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality content.
Important things to note:
The commencement of the job is scheduled for September 2024.
Ownership of a personal, fully operational laptop is mandatory.
Proficiency in editing for both digital and traditional publication formats.
