A balanced diet consists of 5 different types, which are; carbohydrate, protein, vitamins and minerals, fats and oil, and diary alternatives.
Examples of carbohydrate are; bread and rice etc. Carbohydrate makes people very fast.
Examples of protein are; beans and eggs etc. Protein makes people very strong. Meat is a good source of protein.
Vitamins and minerals are fruits and vegetables. Just like apples, carrots, bananas, etc. fruits protect our body from sicknesses. Vitamins and minerals are to be taken at least 5 times a day.
We also have fats and oil. Butter is an example of fats. Fats and oils is very popular because it can be eaten with almost anything.
Would you like to know a few ways to make a balanced diet?
There are different ways to make a balanced diet. But you have to choose the right food. For example; you cannot eat bread with rice. But you can eat rice and stew or yam with egg.
Also, Yam can be served with oil, egg and stew.
A balanced diet must always have either of the 5 types of food. We also have other foods like milk, yoghurt, soya drink etc.
FUN FACTS ABOUT A BALANCED DIET
Water is also part of a balanced diet. You should drink water 6-8 times a day. It is very important.
Also, do not eat too much junk food. Choose foods that have less oil, fats, salt and sugar.
Aim for 2 portions of fish a week, including 1 portion of oily fish. Milk can be mixed with carbohydrates. For example; you can take bread with milk. They are a perfect combination. But you cannot eat rice with yoghurt. They are a wrong combination.
Lastly, we should always eat a balanced diet. A balanced diet can decrease sicknesses and totally keep us healthy always.
