Jordan Hill 11 Plus Examination Preparation Programme
October 2026 – June 2027

Help your child develop the knowledge, reasoning skills, examination techniques, and confidence required for success in the 11 Plus examination.
The Jordan Hill 11 Plus Examination Preparation Programme provides structured online teaching for pupils in Years 4 and 5. The programme welcomes children living in the United Kingdom and children preparing to relocate to the UK for secondary school studies.
Comprehensive 11 Plus Preparation
Our programme covers the four principal areas commonly assessed in 11 Plus entrance examinations:
English
Reading comprehension, vocabulary, spelling, punctuation, grammar, inference, and accurate reading under timed conditions.
Mathematics
Number skills, arithmetic, fractions, decimals, percentages, measurement, geometry, data interpretation, and problem solving.
Verbal Reasoning
Word relationships, analogies, codes, sequences, vocabulary, and language-based logic.
Non-verbal Reasoning
Patterns, shapes, sequences, rotations, reflections, spatial reasoning, and visual problem solving.

Two Preparation Stages
Year 4 Foundations
The Year 4 programme develops strong foundations in reading, vocabulary, mathematical fluency, problem solving, and introductory reasoning.
Children build confidence gradually while becoming familiar with the kinds of thinking required for the 11 Plus.
Year 5 Examination Preparation
The Year 5 programme provides focused preparation for children approaching the entrance examination.
Pupils develop accuracy, speed, examination technique, and confidence through structured teaching, timed practice, regular assessment, and mock examinations.
How the Programme Works
Children attend two live online classes each week:
- English and Verbal Reasoning
- Mathematics and Non-verbal Reasoning
Year 4 and Year 5 pupils attend separate classes. This allows teaching, practice activities, and expectations to be matched to each group’s stage of 11 Plus preparation.
Lessons take place in small groups and combine clear teaching, guided practice, independent questions, timed activities, and feedback.
Pupils also complete structured practice between lessons to consolidate their learning and develop examination confidence.
Diagnostic Assessment
Every child completes a diagnostic assessment in the first class of the programme. This helps us identify the child’s strengths, current learning needs, working speed, and experience with 11 Plus questions.
Parents receive an assessment summary and a recommendation for the appropriate class. The diagnostic assessment is provided at no additional cost.
Online Mock Examinations
Year 5 pupils complete an online mock examination at the end of each term. The assessments become progressively more challenging and help pupils develop accuracy, speed, examination technique, and confidence. Parents receive feedback identifying strengths and areas requiring further development.

Books and Online Learning Resources
Our classes use carefully selected resources from Bond 11 Plus, Schofield and Sims, and CGP for English, Mathematics, Verbal Reasoning, and Non-verbal Reasoning for different ages, ability levels, and examination formats.
Following the diagnostic assessment, parents receive a list of the books and online resources recommended for their child’s class and stage of preparation.
Year 5 pupils use Bond Online for individual practice, timed assessments, mock examinations, automatic marking, feedback, and progress monitoring. Pupils may also use CGP 11 Plus Online for additional practice across the four principal 11 Plus subjects.
Parents purchase the recommended textbooks and workbooks separately. Individual Bond Online access is included in the Year 5 programme fee. CGP 11 Plus Online is an optional additional resource purchased separately by parents.
Class tutors provide clear weekly guidance on the book pages, online activities, and practice tasks to be completed.
Children also receive original Jordan Hill digital resources, lesson materials, assessment activities, and links to authorised resources through our learning platform.
Monitoring Your Child’s Progress
Children’s progress is monitored through:
- Regular skill checks
- Independent practice
- Timed assessments
- Mock examinations
- Monthly progress reports
Parents receive clear feedback about strengths, developing skills, and recommended next steps.
